The past couple of months
brought guests and interesting events, so here's a little update:
My brother John and his lady Kim came to La Paz for 10 days,
and their timing turned out to be perfect
for some really wonderful events,
both planned and un-planned.
|
Kim, John, ML, & Jerry at Costa Baja
Golf Course Restaurant
overlooking the Bay of La Paz....
a nice way to enjoy Sunday brunch. |
|
A beautiful performance right at our marina
by French Cirque du Soleil performers.
Using silk scarves and the boat's own rigging,
this couple wowed us with their strength and agility
on the deck of their yellow sailboat.
With the beauty of the setting sun as a backdrop
and accompanied by stunning music echoing throughout
our marina, the performance was perfection!! |
|
A wild night at one of our favorite local hangouts, "Tailhunter"
resulting in a little pole-dancing with our guests,
John's Kim & Connie La Bounty..... |
|
.....and would you believe poor Brother John
having to observe his big sister at the pole??! |
|
A private concert by John Davidson,
host of "Hollywood Squares" and his own TV show.
He gave two 90-minute performances for just 30 of us
at the delightful restaurant, "Casa Trece",
owned by his son JD and wife Claudia.
John & Kim, Jerry & Cristina Hines, and Jerry & I
truly enjoyed his performance which was
filled with humor, story-telling, and his wonderful voice!
And would you believe he's 70 yrs old??!! |
La Ventana ("the window"), a beach community 45 minutes east of La Paz,
is known as one of the world's best locations for
kite boarding and wind surfing.
Each winter hundreds of fans of the sport
flock to this beach with their tents, campers, trailers, and gear.
|
Skydiver Jerry felt the pull of another wind sport.
So, two days of lessons at Baja Joe's was successful enough
(are you surprised?) that he's now buying his OWN gear!!
Meanwhile,
life goes on aboard s/v SEA STORY...... |
|
....which sometimes means the captain climbs the mast... |
(I will spare you a photo and details of the recent
repair of the boat's head!!)
|
Oh, oh....there's a tilt for ya..!
This 100 ft long schooner tipped in a low tide,
filled with water,
and posed a huge obstacle
in our marina's channel entrance.
It was eventually righted, but needs to be
permanently removed from the channel,
along with its identical twin which is docked alongside.
Neither boat is occupied, merely tied here....
the result of ownership dispute.
These two boats have been
quite the point of discussion this season.
Opportunities to perform and watch performances
always enhance our time in this lovely city. |
|
Tango dancers at "La Encantada" wine/art galaria....
elegance on a small stage.
|
|
......the same venue where I enjoy performing
with the very talented Mexican jazz guitarist, Dario. |
Life is good.
We hope it is for you, too!
'Til next time....
Captain Jerry & First Mate Mary Lee
The pictures are just fabulous! Looks like you all had a great time! Keep the posts coming...xoxo
